Tyre size guide
Are the tyres currently installed on your vehicle the same size as the ones you ordered?
When inspecting the tyres on your vehicle, ensure that the width, profile, rim size, load index, and speed rating match. For instance, if your ordered tyre size is 225/45R17 94Y, compare these specifications with the numbers displayed on the sidewall of your current tyres.
What do the above markings mean?
Width (A) – This refers to the tyre’s width measured in millimeters. For instance, in the given example, the width is 225mm.
Profile / Aspect Ratio (B) – The profile indicates the sidewall depth of the tyre. It’s measured from the wheel to the outer circumference of the tyre and is expressed as a percentage of the tyre’s width (45% of 225mm in the provided example). Thus, the profile is 45.
Rim Diameter (C) – This represents the diameter of the wheel rim and is measured in inches. In the example, the rim diameter is 17 inches.
Load Index – The load index denotes the maximum load-carrying capacity of the tyre. You can select a load index that matches or exceeds your vehicle’s standard requirement. To find this index, refer to your Tyre Placard or inspect the current tyres on your vehicle. In this instance, the load index is 94.
Where to Find Your Tyre Placard? Typically, the tyre placard is a sticker located on the driver’s door/doorframe, petrol lid, or inside the glove compartment.
Speed Rating – The speed rating indicates the maximum speed at which the tyre has been tested, corresponding to its load index. Speed ratings are established to align with the speed capability of vehicles to which they are applied. While tyre manufacturers can create tyres capable of very high speeds, it’s not advisable to exceed the legal speed limit in your state or territory. In the example, the speed rating is 300 km/hr or Y rated.
What’s the best way to find new tyres for my vehicle?
The best way to purchase the correct new tyres for your vehicle is to check the tyres you are currently using and enter their width, profile, and rim into our “Search by Tyre Size” bar.
To avoid ordering the wrong tyres, we strongly advise that you check the size of both the front and rear tyres currently on your vehicle, along with the tyre placard in your vehicle.
Run Flat Tyres
Run-flat tyres offer enhanced safety by allowing you to drive a certain distance even after losing tyre pressure. When this occurs, it’s important to maintain a steady speed of no more than 80 km/h for a maximum distance of 50 to 80 km, depending on the tyre brand.
These tyres are only suitable for vehicles specifically designed for run-flat tyres and equipped with a functional Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Manufacturers commonly using run-flat tyres include BMW, MINI, Mercedes, and Renault. You can identify run-flat tyres by the ‘RFT’ marking on the sidewall.
Please note that installing run-flat tyres should be done by a specialized fitment centreor dealer.
Commercial & Light Truck Tyres
Certain commercial or light truck vehicles need tyres that are rated specifically for these purposes. These tyres will have a “C” after the rim size or an “LT” before the width measurement on the sidewall, such as 195R14C or LT35X10.5R16.

Mercedes Original Equipment Extended Mobility (MOE) Tyres
Tyres marked with MOE are specifically designed for Mercedes vehicles. They offer limited run-flat capability, usually performing at a lower level compared to standard run-flat tyres, and should only be used on Mercedes vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with MOE tyres should not have these tyres replaced with other types.
